Privacy Policy

Lumen ("we," "us") builds and hosts websites for local businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose.
What we collect
- Information you give us. When you fill out a form on this site or on a site we build, we collect what you type: usually your name, phone number, email, business name, and any details about your request.
- Payment information. If you become a client, payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe processes it under its own privacy terms.
- Basic usage data. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address and page requested) to keep the site running and secure. On preview sites we prepare for prospective clients, we record when the preview was opened so we can follow up. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To reply to you and provide the service you asked about.
- To build, host, and maintain your website.
- To send service messages (for example, a reply to a form you submitted, or a text you agreed on a call to receive).
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We only share it with the service providers below, and only as needed to run the service.
Service providers we use
- Cloudflare for website hosting and security.
- Resend for email delivery.
- Twilio for phone calls and text messages.
- Stripe for payment processing.
- Google for public business reviews and photos shown on the sites we build.
Each of these handles data under its own privacy policy.
Text messages
We only text you if you gave us permission, normally by agreeing on a phone call. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop anytime by replying STOP, and you can text HELP for help. We keep a record of your consent.
If we email you and you would rather we did not, reply with "unsubscribe" and we will stop. Every marketing email also includes our mailing address and an opt-out, as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we are working together, or as long as needed to follow up on your request, and then only as long as the law requires. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will not treat you differently for asking.
Children
Our services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top. Material changes will be posted here.
